Many state governments require certification for radon testing so your state may be able to provide you with a list of qualified testers. The most common type of radon testing done in homes is with devices that you leave at the lowest livable area of your home for a few days. After following the instructions for placement of the testing kit in your home and the prescribed exposure has elapsed,  the testing kit is then sent to the lab for analysis. You will get a report of the test results and an explanation of whether or not your home is at a safe radon level, or if levels are near ot above the danger point.
